Another Liberal Defects to Conservatives

Mark Persaud, Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Wajid Khan

Hmm... where was the MSM on this? Why didn't they trumpet this? Isn't this good for the Tories and devastating for the Liberals? How come I didn't notice anything significant in the MSM about this? I actually had to go to the Conservative Party website to realize what just happened. Poor job the MSM has done of reporting the news! So I'll fill the void they left in all their anti-Conservative bias.

Liberals have been defecting to the Conservatives in droves, including high-profile ones. Yet the MSM isn't really enthusiastic about reporting about it, unless there's something that appears somehow potentially negative to put up to plant artificial seeds in the minds of the MSM's audience that perhaps the defectors aren't all that wonderful, or something...

Nevertheless, this latest defection is significant. Here's some excerpts from the Party's site:

MISSISSAUGA – Appearing at an event with new Conservative MP Wajid Khan today, Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced that another prominent former Liberal, Mark Persaud, who chaired the Liberal Party of Canada's Standing Committee on Multiculturalism until last year, has also decided to join the Conservative Party.

"Since the formation of the new Conservative Party of Canada, the party has been growing," said Prime Minister Harper. "Accomplished people like Mark Persaud are recognizing that all Canadians have a home and a future in the Conservative Party."

Mr. Persaud fled turmoil in his native Guyana in 1983 and settled in Canada. He obtained a law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School and is now President and CEO of the Canadian International Peace Project. Renowned as a civic leader for his volunteer work on a wide range of social issues, Mark Persaud served as chair of the Liberal Party’s Standing Committee on Multiculturalism from 2002 to 2006. Last year he was nominated for the prestigious Seoul Peace Prize.

Apparently a very significant, accomplished, distinguished man, Mr. Persaud is. And he has chosen the Conservative Party, abandoning the Liberal Party.

That is big news.

But somehow the news didn't get through to me despite my scans of the online MSM sites. Hmm. Interesting!
