Conservatives Widen Lead Over Liberals

Tories up; Liberals down. 35%-28%

Liberals waaaay down to 14% in Quebec; Tories up to 26%, closing in on and making the Bloc sweat...

With all the shit hitting the fan for so long in the Liberals' disfavor, something had to give... it's like a Newton's Law or something. With incessant, inundating bad press for one party and either neutral or positive press for the other, the polls will eventually show some appropriate movement. And they apparently have, at least in this one so far.

It's funny to watch Liberal "leader" Dion try to philosophize the bad news away, claiming yet again against all the evidence that his and his party's worldview is somehow closest to that of Canadians'... yeah, suuuure. Believe whatever you wish; be optimistic as you want, Stephanie. You do that. Be delusionally complacent. Continue to believe that no matter what, the Liberal Party of Canada somehow is divinely destined to keep coming back over and over again... as if the Liberal Party was somehow a natural phenomenon, like the sun or the tide, rather than an anthropogenic, anachronistic political anomaly yet to dry up and blow away or merge with the NDP and/or Green Party, which seems to be the next logical step, as there's not much difference between the parties of the Leftist Opposition anyway. They have so much in common that they could merge, pool their collective support and... oh, shit, I really shouldn't encourage them, should I? Really, we want them to divide and split the leftist vote rather than bring it together into one scary, far-left monstrosity! Those terrible Borg Cubes are notoriously hard to stop, after all...
